OTFT-LCD new technology breakthrough
OTFT-LCD is an organic thin film transistor liquid crystal display. The traditional TFT-LCD is affected by the material, and can only be displayed in a flat way, and can not achieve a very flexible bending display. In contrast, OTFT-LCD, due to the use of organic materials, has the characteristics of flexible display, so not only impact resistance, but also light weight and small size. This technological breakthrough not only changes the appearance of the display, but also greatly expands and diversifies the application environment. At the same time, the display is printed on a plastic sheet using a roll type process similar to the newspaper printing process, which can greatly reduce production costs.
Yan Donghang, an expert at Changchun Institute of Applied Chemistry of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, said that OTFT is characterized by low cost compared with TFT, and the second is that it can achieve flexible display, and the biggest disadvantage of OTFT is that the mobility of the material is relatively low and the stability is relatively poor.
Although OTFT can not be compared with traditional inorganic transistors in terms of performance and stability, it has the advantages of light weight, low price and good flexibility, and has shown a good application prospect in various display devices and memory devices. OTFT research has been carried out in the world for nearly 20 years, but how to design and process high-function devices, how to reduce the cost of processing technology, how to synthesize organic semiconductor materials with high mobility and environmental stability has been the bottleneck of research.
